More from the Weekend

As much as shoveling was rather a pain, it's nice to have a proper amount of snow, at least once this winter!

When I went for a walk I kept hopping back and forth between the sidewalks and roads, depending which was clearer.

 Snow shadows are fun.

Looking up was very different from looking down.  Love those curled pods!

Dried grasses look lovely in the snow.

Can you spot the sister? (for the record; the snow isn't quite that high, she's crouching a bit)

The backyard was covered in a snowy duvet.

Snow days are also great for crafting!  This is what my desk looked like.  All this mess for two letters.

There was also creating in the kitchen... mini pound cakes, meringues (which burned or something) filled with lemon curd (making them quite edible) and cookies from a jar (leftover Christmas gift).  The lighting was peculiar so black and white it is!

What did you get up to this weekend?  Any creating?

In my Mailbox

During the last couple months I had the pleasure of finding beautiful envelopes like these in my mailbox, most were part of the Elevated Envelope exchange.

The Elevated Envelope exchange was a great excuse to get creative and had the bonus of great mail showing up in the mailbox!  I've just got my exchange group & prompt for the summer.  If you'd like to participate you can sign up for the fall exchange here.

This was probably my favourite bit of the Elevated Envelopes I received; the way Tara wrote my address! I just couldn't stop looking at it and seriously considering getting this done as a stamp!

What could be more fun then finding beautiful envelopes in your mailbox?

Elevated Envelope

I just realized I forgot to show you what I made for the spring Elevated Envelope exchange! I wanted to make sure my swap partners got theirs before I showed them on my blog and then I lost track of time!

I had fun using watercolours to create the sunsets and the boats.  I masked off a circle for the sun and then did washes in different colours.  The boats were painted on after the sunset had dried.  If you're interested in participating in the Elevated Envelope you can sign up for the fall exchange here!

Something Good!

Today's the big day when Send Something Good partners are revealed!  I received my package on a busy day & didn't have time to open it til late at night.  Crappy for pictures but I couldn't wait!  Everything was wrapped which made for fun and extended opening.

Inside Gentri had included things to represent so many of my interests, and lots of turquoise, my favourite colour.

As much fun as this was to receive I had even more fun making the package for my other partner April!  Again, it was a late night project (no photos) but if you head over to April's blog she did a great job photo documenting the package and her super cute daughter makes a guest appearance!

This project was such a fun way to meet new bloggers!  There's talk of another swap happening in the fall... just sayin'.

Here's links to other Something Good participants!  Have fun!

Snail Mail

Do you enjoy receiving snail mail as much as I do? There's nothing like opening the mailbox & finding something that doesn't have a typed address on it!  How about finding amazing envelopes made just for you?  I've signed up for the Elevated Envelope exchange and there's still time for you to join!

"The Elevated Envelope is an artistic pen pal project designed to bring back the fun of checking the mail.  You’ll create a work of art in envelope form, execute it about 10 times, and mail them to 10 people." (taken from the EE website)

You don't have to mail your envelopes till May 1 so there's lots of time to let the creative juices simmer. :)

Chiyogami Challenge - Project #3

Another quick one!
  • Punch circles out (I find chiyogami paper doesn't punch well on it's own so I punch it together with a scrap of regular paper).
  • Glue onto blank labels (I used a UHU glue stick).
  • Peel away the outside of the labels and trim the backing paper.

I've been using these as seals on the backs of envelopes, where would you use them?

I (heart) Mail

What could be more wonderful then getting something in the mail?

Receiving an envelope with beautiful vintage stamps on it! (Can you see I was too excited to open it nicely and ripped it at the top?)

They're super cute in the package.

And so much fun once they're out!

My problem now is deciding who to send these wonderful stamps to.  Someone who would appreciate them of course. Although I'm having a little trouble letting go (isn't that girl watering the tree lovely?) so I'm seriously tempted to ask them to send them back to me instead of throwing them out.  Consider this your warning - if these stamps end up in your mailbox don't get too attached!

Want your own awesome stamps?  Jaime at Send More Mail is the lovely lady who assembles these packages - each with enough stamps to send a letter in Canada.  (Sorry everyone who lives elsewhere!)
